Providence Health & Services Security Officer in Chewelah, Washington
Providence is calling a Security Officer ( Plant Operations , Night Shift, 0.7 FTE) to Providence St. Joseph’s Hospital in Chewelah, Washington . In this position you will:
Patrols assigned area on foot; performs active campus problem identification; attend campus, department or unit meetings as it relates to security; maintains high patrol visibility to assist in crime prevention; actively performs routine patrol, concentrating on high incident areas, to detect possible criminal activities or needs for service; regularly checks hospital units and adjacent properties; identifies, reports, and responds to suspicious activities or needs for service.
Performs duties relating to service and assistance (lost child, arguments, injured persons, fights, lock-outs, suspicious persons, abandoned vehicles, alarms, security standby requests, vehicle inspections, etc.); responds to area through phone call, notification, or observation; evaluates situation to determine needs assistance from others, law enforcement agency contact, EMS assistance, etc.); identifies and implements appropriate course of action.
Prepares reports (case/incident reports, supplemental reports, written statements, accident reports, property slips, inter-departments, etc.) relating to activities in accordance with Security Services policies; observes and records events; checks reports for accuracy; submits to appropriate personnel; maintains personal notebook of activities; Completes and submits individual productivity reports within 15 days of the end of the month
Investigates thefts, shortages and other complaints involving potential criminal misconduct by questioning individuals involved with specific incidents; notifies appropriate law enforcement agencies of potential/real civil or criminal misconduct and detains suspicious individuals as appropriate; when authorized will detain persons as appropriate; participates in subsequent court proceedings as required.
Liaisons with law enforcement, fire department, emergency medical services, public relations and other PMCH stakeholders to ensure threats are identified and appropriately communicated.
Possesses knowledge of emergency procedures and internal/external disaster plans.
Required qualifications for this position include:
High school diploma or equivalent
Ability to successfully complete department Field Training Officer Program including MOAB/Defensive Tactics, OC/Pepper Spray, Baton, CEW/Taser, Handcuffing, CPR/AED and basic healthcare security training.
Valid driver's license
Preferred qualifications for this position include:
1 year of training from an accredited college in law enforcement, security, or a related field, or completion of basic law enforcement academy.
2 years of previous Law Enforcement, Security, and/or Military experience.
